Mint: Good for Mojitos and Mouse Prevention

Mint: Good for Mojitos and Mouse Prevention

Originally posted at

Mint. It’s good for mojitos, but did you know it’s also good for mouse prevention?

Mice are pervasive. Despite your best efforts to keep them out of your home, they manage to skirt traps, scale walls and breed faster than you can blink.

The good news is that there’s a better alternative to toxic baits and violent traps, and it happens to be a pleasant addition to many adult beverages: mint.

Mice (and other rodents such as squirrels, rats and chipmunks) are allergic to mint, and because of their acute sense of smell, will avoid those areas. It’s like rodent kryptonite.

There are a number of ways you can use mint to reduce rodent invasions. One approach is to place a few potted mint plants in your kitchen. You’ll enjoy the smell just as much as mice detest it.

For a more potent smell, place cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil throughout your kitchen and in your drawers. If you use this plan of attack, be sure to refresh the cotton balls every few days so the smell stays strong, and only use full-strength oil (extract won’t work).

Next, put a few drops of peppermint oil in your cleaning liquid and wipe down your counters to prevent unwanted guests in your cooking area.

The full-scale attack doesn’t have to end in the kitchen. Spray the mixture under the furniture, bed, air conditioning / heater units and water heater.

Pay special attention to areas where you suspect mice (or rats) are getting in. Since this combination is nontoxic, you don’t have to worry about kids or canines getting caught up in rodent wars.

The Healing Power of Pine

The healing power of pine

By Sara Altshul

Published December 04, 2012

Only recently did I discover that it’s not just sentiment that makes pine so compelling. Pine and other evergreen trees, as it turns out, are loaded with compounds that have a variety of positive effects on the human body.

I love walking into people’s homes in December, when the smell of freshly cut Christmas trees hangs in the air and fills me with seasonal joy.

When it comes time to buy my favorite Scotch pine, Douglas fir, or Norway spruce, I use my nose to guide me. I want the freshest, most fragrant tree I can get my hands on: I need that aroma to jump-start my holiday spirit. If my apartment were big enough, I might even consider getting two trees this year!

An extract for what ails you

Native Canadians knew all about those benefits. According to a nearly 500-year-old legend, French explorer Jacques Cartier’s ship got stuck in the ice near Quebec. He and his crew faced certain death from scurvy (a vitamin C deficiency) until a tribal chieftain named Donacona brewed the sailors pine tea. It saved their lives and their explorations continued. Later, in the 1940s, a French researcher named Jacques Masquelier discovered that pine bark and needles contain vitamin C.

That researcher went on to test French coastal pine trees (Pinus maritima) and learned that they’re loaded with beneficial antioxidant compounds called flavonols and bioflavonoids. He extracted the compounds with hot water and patented his discovery as Pycnogenol. Now marketed as a dietary supplement, Pycnogenol—which has been used as a jet lag remedy—has also been studied for its ability to ease circulatory problems, knee pain, and menstrual cramps; it may even improve memory in the elderly.

A scent for stress relief

In Japan, going for a therapeutic walk in the woods is known as shinrin-yoku, which means “taking in the atmosphere of the forest.” This practice has recently been studied for its ability to ease stress.

In one study, researchers at the Japan’s Kyoto University sent 498 healthy volunteers on two 15-minute forest strolls one day, compared to a control day when they didn’t walk. Volunteers rated their mood on a standard psychological scale. Their hostility and depression scores decreased significantly after walking. What’s more, the more stressed-out the volunteers were to begin with, the greater the relaxation they experienced.

While most of us don’t have access to ancient Japanese pine forests, we can fake the same emotional effects by taking a stroll through a local Christmas tree farm—or by using essential oils such as balsam or silver fir, spruce, pine, or Scotch pine. Traditional aromatherapy recommends these foresty evergreen oils for soothing bumpy emotions and easing stress. Simply shake a few drops on your pillow or even onto a tissue. Breathe in deeply and slowly, relax, and visualize walking through a piney glade. (You can find pine essential oils at health-food stores.)

Oils for bronchitis or chest coughs

Pine’s ability to heal isn’t confined to your emotions. It also provides gentle relief for colds and congested sinuses. Add three drops of pine essential oil to a bowl of hot tap water, cover your head with a towel, and inhale the steam through your nose and mouth.

A massage for sore muscles

Add five drops of pine oil (P. pinaster) to two tablespoons of vegetable oil and use it to massage away muscle aches and pains. (Caution: Don’t use Scotch pine oil—P. sylvestris—on the skin, as it may be irritating.)

As for this New Yorker, I won’t be near any forests or Christmas tree farms anytime soon—but I am planning to take as many walks through the city’s makeshift sidewalk forests as I possibly can this holiday season. And I’ll be spritzing various pine oils throughout my tiny apartment to power up the soul-soothing scent of my Christmas tree and to keep my holiday spirits operating at peak efficiency.

Bronchial and Immune Support 12-2011

Bronchial and Immune Support

This information was received by Celest and David from a conversation with Dr. Shamaan Eagle. Shamaan is a naturopath and is the receiver of the "New Light Messages" posted here on our website.

Shamaan recommends everyone do a Hot Steam – do this Bi-monthly

Use "Natural Eucalyptus" and "Rosemary Oil." Natural Camphor would be preferable to Rosemary, it comes in "crystals." Put hot water in a bowl, add tinctures and place towel over head and breathe deeply.

Anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant

Thyme Tea and Hysoot Tea (available at Mix in equal proportions and add something for flavoring if need be… drink hot

CQ10 – better to use "Ubiquinol" – it is the active ingredient of CQ10, this has been removed from the body and the body needs it..

Beta-carotene – strengthens the immune system

The best product according to her to use is "Aloe Immune" originally created by Dr Siegel. (This is a Pyramid type product, search internet for best price, here is the main website

Aloe Vera has a healing capacity over antibiotics; "Aloe Immune" is a combination of Aloe Vera and Yam. The p-cells produced by the adrenal glands are amplified by the 2 legged support for the system from these two ingredients.

The Four Ingredients for immune,

bronchial and respiratory health:

Astragalus Leaf, has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for thousands of years.

Elderberry (extract) "Sambucus" a vegetable glycerin solution. Mix with warm water and take a ‘shot’ twice a day.

Olive Leaf – strong antiviral properties. Do not take in extract form for it tastes horrible, take in pill form and have a glass of water to wash it down immediately after putting into the mouth.

Thyme and Rosemary, (available in the spice section at the grocery stores) use leaves to make a Tea, to keep respiratory system strong. Expels mucus so you can breathe. Mix 1 ½ tsp each in a tea ball. In 2 ½ cups of boiling water, boil 2 minutes, simmer 15 minutes using covered lid. USE leaves, not the ground powder. We, Celest and David, have used this many times in the past, it works and it tastes good.

Horehound – works well but you do need more support as well.

"Yerba Santa" – Translated means "The Sacred Herb." For ‘bronchitis.’ Keep this around.. Powerful expellant, antivolosulant. Mix with brandy and you will go to sleep.

"Old Indian Wild Cherry Bark Syrup" available at ‘Planetary Herbals’ – Michael Tiera created this.

Cancer… if you are estrogenic then do not use Liquorish root.

Take Olive Leaf and Oregano together to keep the mucus down.

Red Wine, active ingredient is Resveratrol, for maintaining a healthy heart.. it is available in capsule form.

Antibiotics Could be to Blame for Skyrocketing Mental Illness Rates

Antibiotics Could be to Blame for Skyrocketing Mental Illness Rates

October 19, 2011

A new report published in the popular journal Nature has revealed that antibiotics arepermanently destroying beneficial bacteria within the gut, a condition scientists link to mental illness. While it has been known for some time that antibiotics contribute to the development of drug-resistant superbugs and certain gut problems, the link between antibiotic use and mental illness through the permanent destruction of beneficial bacteria only further tops the pharmaceutical paradigm. In fact, the pharmaceutical paradigm set in place by drug makers is so vast that it actually offers drug-based ‘solutions’ to the very problems that drugs originally created!

Natural Society special report: More than 1 in 10 Americans on Suicide-Linked Antidepressants

After kids are given excessive amounts of antibiotics that lead to the destruction of their gut health and the subsequent onset of mental illness, they are then given deadly antipsychotics and other psychiatric drugs to ‘treat’ the condition that originated from pharmaceutical drug use. It is a system that, whether purposeful or not, generates large profits for many prescription-happy doctors and drug manufacturers alike. Perhaps the most troubling part of this system is the massive fraud committed by financially-invested corporations to stop the truth about these drugs and other mainstream medical ‘treatments’ from getting to the general public.

The pharmaceutical paradigm

The general public has the right to know that dangerous antipsychotics are not going to ‘cure’ anything, and researchers have found that simply improving gut health and bacteria through probiotic supplementation or consumption will make a profound difference in your mental health and clarity:

"It may be that those changes in gut bacteria not only contribute to the generation of gut symptoms, like diarrhea or pain, but may also contribute to this altered behavior that we see in those patients,"said researcher Stephen Collins.

It seems that many large corporations act as gatekeepers, doctoring study results and attempting to discredit any research that endangers profits. Unfortunately, there will always be greedy individuals willing to go along with the scam. Such is the case with Dr. Scott Reuben, a well-respected anesthesiologist who was the former chief of acute pain of the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield Massachusetts. Dr. Reubenaltered the results of 21 studies to deceive customers into thinking that Vioxx and Celebrex were safe. Of course this is not an isolated incident, simply one that received mainstream attention.

Rejuvenating gut health

While the damage to beneficial bacteria may be permanent, you can still utilize natural strategies to put that good bacteria back into the gut. Through the consumption of probiotics, you can restore beneficial bacteria that has been damaged through use of antibiotics. It is possible to do this through either supplementation or probiotic-rich foods, though you may find consuming such foods to be a challenge. Fermented food items such as sauerkraut, tempeh, miso or kefir are all rich sources of probiotic bacteria.

In addition to restoring beneficial bacteria into the gut through the use of probiotics, eliminating or severely reducing sugar intake will also be instrumental in restoring gut health and eliminating mental illness. Not only will you be improving your digestion and mental performance, you will be drastically slashing your risk of cancer, inflammation, and countless other diseases.

Groups Sue FDA Over Use of Antibiotics in Animal Feed

Anthony Gucciardi

May 26, 2011

A conglomerate of environmental and health-advocacy groups are suing the FDA over the use of two antibiotics used in animal feed to treat livestock. The group alleges that the FDA knew years ago that loading up livestock full of penicillin and tetracyclines (the 2 antibiotics in question) was causing bacteria to become resistant to drugs that humans rely upon to fight infections — thus leading to the onset of numerous ‘superbugs’ and mutated viruses. The group’s assertion goes on to say that the FDA did nothing to stop this, despite knowing about it.

The Natural Resources Defense Council, Center for Science in the Public Interest, Food Animal Concerns Trust, Public Citizen, and Union of Concerned Scientists all filed their suit Wednesday with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The groups outlined the excessive use of antibiotics in livestock nationwide, and the potential dangers that go along with it. "Approximately 80% of all antibiotics used in the United States today are used in livestock," the group explained in the suit. "Most of these drugs are not used to treat disease. Instead, they are given to healthy animals in their feed or water, both to promote faster growth and to prevent infections."

The FDA noted in a documented released last year that there was a proposal to ban both antibiotics in 1977, but did not due to a lack of evidence "to show that drug-resistant bacteria of animal origin were commonly transmitted to humans and caused and caused serious illness."

Fever blisters

I used to get quite a few fever blisters until I recalled what the ‘old timers’ did when I was a kid. Wet your lip with saliva (from your tongue) and pack on baking soda. I suggest Red Mill brand because it is aluminum free. In a short time, the blister will be gone. Repeat for those blisters which are there for a length of time, or are a repeated fact of life.

This may seem like a fairy tale, but from one who has a life record of continual colds through the year to being totally free of cold symptoms for over 30 years, I would say this works. After reading Alice Steadman’s book "Who’s the matter with me?" I tested her suggestion with much success. Whenever I felt a cold or sniffles I immediately placed my attention on myself and what I was doing. I cannot find the place now that said we get colds when our attention is everywhere else but on ourselves and our own life. Not only did this work for me, but I used this method on a gentleman visitor who visited with his own paper bag ready for used kleenex. His red nose told me the rest. In talking to him and having him concentrate on him ‘self’, he no longer used the kleenex and all drainage had stopped.

We want to share something we discovered that works very well for flu symptoms. You can add it to the health section of your website if you wish.

OregaRESP P73 is a highly potent extract of wild oregano and other herbs that is excellent support for any kind of respiratory stress or illness such as flu. We find it most effective taken at the onset of symptoms. In our experience it stops the symptoms almost immediately. We find it is best to take with some food. It is available several places online. We have purchased it from

A while ago one of our faithful readers sent us a link to which is a very good, low priced place from which to purchase vitamins and other items. We apologize to him, we have lost his original email. Thank you for sending this link to us so that we could share it with others.

Hi David and Celest,

I know it’s not well known, but for in taking vinegar ones needs to use "organic" vinegar. The reason I mention this is most commercial vinegar is now made with GMO mother. I personally take 2 tsp’s mornings with 8 oz. of water and make my farm cheese with the same vinegar (Bragg’s is what I use).

Have a happy, loving and Tree…mendous day! ) Pat

Thank you for those health remedies that you have posted. I am so glad to see it!!!

I used this remedy to rid myself of toxins.

Many people are exposed to the Varicella Virus, Epstien-Bar, and Viruses that cause cold sores. Those viruses sap your energy, live dormant along the nervous system, and cause all kinds of inflammation, blocking energy pathways. To rid my body of those type of toxins, took.

Red Marine Algae 4 500mg capsules 2x a day with 100 mg Co Q10, 2000 IU of Natural Vitamin E, 1000mg Flax Seed Oil, 1000 Mg Lysine, 2mg copper and a vitamin B Supplement…It really boosted my energy levels and I felt better in 2 months than I had felt in the last 2 years.

When the Ascension symptoms really had me tired, I added an adrenal support and began the vitamin B supplements again. That with Sea Salt baths helped tremendously.

I really enjoy your website and will continue to view it. I appreciate the articles, the channelings and I have really come to like Blue Star. I appreciate that he talks to us as adults and does not mince words. My kind of being!

Thank you for the service that you provide.
Blessings and Light!

I really enjoy your website. I have a website on which I sell bath and body products. All of the products are scented with Essential Oils/Essential Oil Blends. No Chemical Fragrance. I have a line that is entirely Goat’s Milk with soaps, lotions, and 100% Sea Salt Bath Salts. Coincidently, I am thinking of starting a line of products called "Purple Sun" which would consist of Ascension Support Products.

Note from Celest and David – We have tried two of her wonderful products, the "Goats Milk Lotion" is excellent, smooth, non oily lotion which goes a long way. The "Sea Salt Bath Salts" are also excellent, beautiful scents, not overpowering and the advantages to Sea Salt we have already spoken about. Try them, you will not be disappointed.

Very good website. Must add though, in your water section, you did not mention about distilled water. Steam distilled water is the purest form of water, though 99% of all things are removed from it including fluoride and chlorine. The muck that is left over in the bottom of the container after the water has been distilled is enough to make you sick, knowing that that has been going inside your body for years. To have your daily dose of minerals just add half a teaspoon of Himalayan crystal salt – this salt has 80plus minerals and enzymes the ones that are encoded in the body. Himalayan pink crystal salt is hand mined from rocks around the Himalayas that have been around for millions of years.

Thanks, Chris (London UK)
